The Angolan artist Kiluanji Kia Henda's first Belgian exhibition opens at M Leuven in February 2020. The recurring themes in his work include migration, architecture, colonization, politics and history. It is very important to him to get his message across. “I would appreciate it if visitors to the exhibition read about the works. Everyone has their own history and interprets things in their own way. That’s a good thing. But I would also like them to understand what I want to say.”

“I am showing four works at M. Three of them, ‘The Geometric Ballad of Fear’, ‘Isle of Venus’ and ‘Mare Nostrum’ refer to the migration crisis. They are my way of dealing with the tragedy that is occurring on the Mediterranean Sea. The suffering, the misery, the death. And how Europe reacts to it.”
